The Zero List Zero parabens, phthalates, sulphates, silicones, PEGs, petrochemicals, palm oil, artificial fragrance. Why we exclude these

We formulate by leaving things out. These ingredient groups never make the cut.

Parabens

Preservatives that absorb through skin and behave like a weak oestrogen once inside the body. Regulators call current levels safe. The long term picture is still being written, and we would rather not test it on your face. Our formulas are oil based and stable on their own, so there is no water here to preserve.

Phthalates

Hormone disruptors, linked most strongly to reproductive and developmental harm, and detectable in almost everyone tested. In skincare their only job is making synthetic fragrance cling. We do not use synthetic fragrance, so they never enter the formula.

Sulphates

Foaming detergents that strip the lipids holding your barrier together, leaving skin tight and quicker to react to whatever follows. We cleanse with oil, which lifts the day off and leaves the barrier where it belongs.

Silicones

They sit on the surface and perform smoothness in the formula without delivering any to your skin. This one is not about your health, it is about the water. Two of the most common, D4 and D5, are restricted in Europe for how long they persist once they wash down the drain. We use plant oils your skin absorbs, so the softness is yours.

PEGs

Made using ethylene oxide, which can leave traces of itself and 1,4-dioxane behind in the finished ingredient. Both are carcinogens. PEGs also make skin more permeable to whatever else is in the bottle. Where a formula needs to rinse clean, we use a plant derived emulsifier which doesn't have the same risks.

Petrochemicals

Refined from crude oil. The aromatic fraction, the part carrying the carcinogens, is meant to be stripped out during refining, and whether it actually was is not something a label will ever tell you. Independent testing keeps finding products where it wasn't. That is a lot of trust to place in a step you cannot see, for an ingredient that seals the surface and feeds it nothing. Every oil in a Zero Zero formula comes from a plant you can name.

Palm oil

Refined at high heat, palm produces more glycidyl esters than any other vegetable oil. The body converts them to glycidol, a probable human carcinogen that European regulators refused to set any safe level for. That evidence comes from eating it, not wearing it. Skin absorbs a meaningful amount of what you put on it, and we are not interested in finding out where that line sits. The forest it came from is the other half of the answer. We formulate without palm entirely, derivatives included.

Artificial fragrance

The single biggest cause of allergic reaction in cosmetics, and one word on a label can legally stand for dozens of compounds you will never be told about, phthalates among them. Every scent in a Zero Zero formula is an essential oil that you can see named on the list.

Does natural skincare actually work as well as what I’m using now?
Your skin only uses what it recognises. We choose plant oils that are structurally close to what your skin already produces, so they absorb instead of sitting on the surface. Take the cleanser. The oil dissolves the oil already on your skin, along with the SPF and makeup sitting in it. Add water and the whole lot rinses away. Your own moisture stays. It takes a week or two to get used to, and we’d rather say that upfront. Every ingredient is on this page, with the reason it’s there. This is skincare you can stop questioning.

Is it suited to sensitive skin?
Reactive skin usually isn’t fighting one villain ingredient. It’s dealing with volume. Every formula here is a short list of plant oils, five to seven ingredients each, so there’s very little to react to. And with three products instead of twelve, there’s nowhere for a reaction to hide. If something doesn’t agree with you, you’ll actually know what it was. Our formulas do contain essential oils. Skin doesn’t get oily because of oil. It overproduces because it’s been stripped, then it gets stripped again, and the cycle continues. The oils we choose are structurally close to what your skin already makes, so your skin reads that as enough and eases off. When will I see results?

How long does one bottle last?
Used daily the 50ml products should last 2-3 months. That’s roughly a dollar a day. They’re concentrated. So use less than you think you’ll need. You can always add more.

My skincare routine used to be whatever I could grab in the shower. I really care about having more natural ingredients but I just didn't have time to research them. Zero Zero made it really simple. The moisturiser goes a long way. You only need a tiny amount, and my skin feels genuinely looked after even on the most chaotic days. I was a bit skeptical at first that it might be too rich, but after letting it settle for a few minutes, my skin just drinks it in. The key is using a tiny amount and warming it between your fingertips before you apply. People genuinely tell me my skin looks incredible, and I get asked all the time what I'm using. I initially thought that it might find it a little too nourishing but once I apply it on my skin and leave it for about 10 minutes, it feels AMAZING! The trick is to use just a little and rub it between your fingertips before applying. Lots of people comment on how my skin is so lovely and that it glows! I also find that because you only have to use such a small amount that it lasts a long time. I have also started to use the other incredible ZERO ZERO products . The cleanser and the serum are just as amazing. Won't ever going back to using the big brand products full of chemicals ever again. I only wish that these products were available earlier!

I’m honestly so impressed with this set My skin has been feeling so nourished, hydrated and just overall healthy since using it. I used to struggle with oil cleansers because they never felt like they were actually cleaning my skin… but this one completely changed my mind.
